Hey everybody,

I got married a few weeks ago and we just got our pictures back, so I decided I would post a breakdown of the outfit I put together along with the budget and my opinions on everything I went with. I wouldn't say the final cost was "cheap" but it was fairly frugal as I now own all of these items and will get a lot of use out of them in the future.

First thing: photo album

Suit: $400 - Indochino Hayle Sharkskin Gray Suit

My bodytype is incredibly hard to buy a suit for (5'2 & broad shoulders, 36 chest). I shopped around at nearly every store I could think of, but every suit that fit me in the chest was FAR too long. For this reason, I ended up with Indochino. Fortunately I live near a showroom so I was able to get measured in person, which I think really helped with the final product. I also really enjoyed the customizable options offered, like the floral lining I went with. If you can fit in a suit OTR, I wouldn't bother, but if you struggle with suits then I think an Indochino showroom is a great budget friendly option.

Shirt: $33 - Express slim grey floral shirt

I purchased this shirt during one of the 3 for $100 sales. I did need some tailoring as a slim XS is way too tight, but a slim S is a bit boxy. Everybody absolutely loved this shirt, including myself.

Suit & Shirt Tailoring: $125

I went through one round of 'free' tailoring at Indochino, but it took a long time and I wasn't thrilled with the results. Since I needed the shirt tailored anyway, I brought the suit with me and had them fix it as well. The jacket alterations were very minor - the shoulders were a bit uneven and I just needed to bring the suit in a little bit. The pants were my biggest annoyance with Indochino, and I'm still not that thrilled with them. I can't seem to find the balance between them not being baggy, but not giving me a wedgie. I got them to an acceptable point, but they aren't the best fitting pants.

The shirt was $50 to tailor an the suit $150, and Indochino reimburses $75 of the suit tailoring.

Shoes: $195 - Allen Edmonds Walnut 5th Avenue Factory 2nds

I purchased these online from an Allen Edmonds outlet during a Factory 2nds sale that was going on. Truthfully, I still can't figure out what caused these shoes to be 2nds because they look perfect to me. When I first put the shoes on, I was very concerned about how comfortable they are, but after breaking them in for a few days the differences was HUGE. These are the nicest dress shoes I've ever owned, by FAR.

Belt: $19.59 - Alfani Tan Feather-Edge Belt (Macy's)

I was originally planning to just splurge and buy the matching AE belt, however they only went down to a size 32 (and as mentioned, that doesn't work for me). Instead I ordered about 4 different tan belts from Macy's for much cheaper and kept whichever one matched my shoes the best. This one was a near perfect match, and looked as good as I could have hoped.

Tie & Pocket Square: $77.22 - Custom made from Etsy

I had a very specific color tie in mind that I wanted to wear (sort of a dusty pale green), but I could not find ANYTHING that looked like what I was searching for. Eventually I found this etsy listing for the exact color I wanted, and had her make me a custom tie of 2" width with a matching pocket square. It came out perfect!

Socks: $11.98 - Tommy Hilfiger Diamond Striped Socks

I wanted a "fun" pair of socks that wouldn't clash with the tie color, and these darker blue / green socks worked out perfectly. Came in a 2 pack as well!

Watch: $155- Skagen Signatur Watch

I wanted a very plain, minimalist watch with a tan leather band, and I really liked everything from the Skagen brand. Specifically with this watch I liked the grey face. I never used to wear watches, but I have been wearing this one every day since the wedding.

Total Cost: $1016.79

While I certainly could have spent $500 on an ill-fitted suit or tux rental + accessories, I am much happier that I ended up with a suit that fit me fairly well and really nice shoes, that I can now keep using in the future. Hope this is of some use to people!
