She is 7 years old. For a year now, every Saturday she gets £1 in 10 x 10p coins and she decides how to distribute them between these three jars herself. It's really helped her understand the value of saving - in fact, I have to encourage her to actually spend some of it instead of hoarding it all. She's got about £30 in the Save jar now, about £20 in the Give and another £20 in the Spend (her birthday money gets distributed too). When she's ready she can decide where she wants to Give money to go.
