Hello,We are attempting to install a ceiling fan in the bedroom of our 1941 home that has had one previous owner so has never had an "overhaul" renovation.I can not install this damn ceiling fan. I unhooked the existing light fixture, and there was a box. I am aware that many boxes are not fan rated, so I bought a fan rated box to install. I crawled into the attic to remove the old box, and it absolutely will not budge. It is connected to the joists by hooking under them. Much sturdier than I anticipated. I tried to bang it out with a hammer and no luck. So, on that point, I am confident the box will support a ceiling fan.Problem is, on the box, the screw holes are more narrow than the screw holes on the bracket that came with the fan. I bought a couple adapters like this but I'm worried about essential having everything ride on 4 screws and bolts connected by slats. It also says it's rated for 35 lbs. Not sure how much the fan weighs. Will this work? What is my next move forward? Do I need to continue to try and destroy the existing box to get the new box in? or is there an easier solution? Thanks in advance! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2Kq3gDZ
