I'm in a three bedroom apartment that is about 1,000 square feet. I was considering getting this 18,000 BTU GE unit from Home Depot. I've never owned an air conditioner before, so I don't have any experience to lean on. I was thinking that this would be sufficient to cool the entire apartment, if needed.
In my previous one bedroom apartment (~600 sq ft), there was one wall unit that sufficiently cooled the entire place. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the BTU info from that unit.
What do you think? Or would two smaller units be best - one in living room/kitchen area and the other in the bedroom? Also, any tips on how to maintain an air conditioner so it lasts for as long as possible, would be appreciated!
