Ok, so it's not the most frugal credit card of all time for sure. But I've seen enough people on /r/frugalmalefashion mention /r/churning that there definitely seems to be a spillover audience (who doesn't like clothing deals and free travel?) and this is a noteworthy new benefit.
All AmEx Platinum cardholders will get $100 statement credit on Saks 5th Avenue purchases - $50 in Q1/Q2 and an additional $50 in Q3/Q4.
Obviously Saks isn't super cheap, but there are some purchases that could make this a pretty sweet deal. I'm planning on using it to buy CDG Converse - this stacked with the 10% coupon that could easily be found gets them shipped for about $70 which is tough to beat.
