Literally the most you'll need for this job is a dollar store screwdriver. It takes 5 minutes to access the panel, turn the knob, and close the panel. Every water heater is different, but this is not a hard job. It's damn near impossible to screw up. YouTube can help if you need confidence.
The best thing about this tip is that you do it once ever and it keeps saving you money. You don't have to change any part of your lifestyle by doing this. I love hot water showers and 120 degrees does me just fine.
