I bought a Freestyle watch for $2 from a friend's garage sale. It appeared to need a new battery. Once I got it home and actually looked more closely at it, I discovered it wasn't as easy to remove the back as I'd anticipated. These watches are waterproof and seem to be made so that a person cannot change a battery on their own, which I found on their website to be true as when I sent an email and read through their FAQ, they say to send it to their only repair place in TX. Keep in mind that any guarantee/warranty would be voided by opening it on your own as they are not able to test it for being waterproof.
Once I figured out how to get it squished in the crevice it needed to go, just a piece of floss was needed to wrap around a spring pin and a good tug (according to YouTube but took me several minutes of tugging).Once that was removed I could get the band out of the way to see the back of the watch. YouTube suggested scissors, pliers and a rubber ball to remove the back in place of the actual tool made for this. I tried scissors and pliers, which didn't work for me. Didn't have a rubber ball. But had rubber gloves. Using my thumbs I was able to use a little pressure and turn it counterclockwise to remove it. Switched my battery and put it back together and it's working fine. Have no plans to go diving so I wasn't concerned about it being waterproof.
