Something I've noticed with the last 2 years of buying LEDs is that they are all trash. The warranty on them is limited to a point you suspect its a scam, and the life time claims of the bulb are ridiculously fruadulant and exagerated.
Even worse, the circuits in the bulbs keep burning up and dying before the LEDs do. I've replaced LED lights 6 times in my room, with the same fluorescent in the other side. I even switched sides just to be sure. Same for other rooms in the house that use lights less than I do. My LEDs just keep burning out.
I smashed open one of the LEDs afterwords and the circuit just went bad, a single component on it malfunctioned but after tearing the bulb apart to that extent, there was no repair.
So, is it -really- economical to tell people to get LEDs? Or should we be telling people not to buy LEDs till we can get the cheap ripoffs off the shelves? Circuits are the failing point of these lights now but no company is honestly saying that, they tell you that the bulb will last 30 years, only if you use it at most 3 hours a day. Who does that? What, did they find the people who are never home and use -them- to gather their statistics?
I personally use my light at least 18 hours a day, and they burn out, way too often. So in my opinion if you use lights a lot, you should stick to fluorescent. What are your thoughts though?
