While I'm really happy in my current role, I recently realized felt like I was underpaid, maybe by $5k or so. I did some market research (confirmed), updated my LinkedIn, and started networking with recruiters I was familiar with. My thought was maybe I can learn about the going rate for people who do what I do from recruiters.

Within 24 hours of all this (last week), two recruiters reached out to me about roles that pay between $15k and $20k more than what I'm currently making. I was not expecting that, at all. I intend to go through with the interview process for one of the jobs because it's a role I think I'd actually take.

I'm pretty happy at my current job, but that's a lot of money. I've never countered a company before and I've only ever attempted a salary discussion post-hire one time.

I know the general rule is never attempt to counter your current role unless it's a job you're willing to take. But what about something like "Hey, I'm really happy and I was approached by other companies. While I really don't want to leave, the offers are for a lot of money. Is there something we can work out?"

I concede that I am still towards the beginning of my career and am very ignorant in the ways of salary negotiation. Any tips and advice are much appreciated.
