This morning I bought a four-cheese bagel with bacon at Tim Horton's for $3.45. I decided to break down what it would cost me to buy all the ingredients and assemble them myself.

Bagels (Old Mill) 1.87 (although where I live, these are often on sale for a dollar)= .31 each Cheese Slices (No name, actual cheese, not 'cheese food') = 3.48 for a pack of 12 slices = .58 for two slices Pre-cooked bacon (This is a guess based on the cost of bacon bits from the same brand, so I can't guarantee accuracy) 5.48 for a pack of 12 = .91 for two slices Butter = 5.98 for 454 g = .13 for 2 tsp Ketchup (if you like that sort of thing.. I do) = 3.48 for 1L = .03 for 2 tsp

Total= 1.97 for one buttered bagel with bacon, cheese, and ketchup.
