I hope this is the right place for this post.
The other night my husband picked up fast food from a chain place using his debit card. Then two days later, when I went to do the budget, I noticed the charge had been submitted twice and both had cleared.
I asked my husband if he had gone twice, he said only once, so I asked him to contact the bank to get it sorted.
The bank told my husband that he needs to get the restaurant to handle it.
I've never heard of this. Every time I've had an issue with a charge I contacted my bank, they saw the discrepancy, and immediately refunded my account. The only time this wasn't the case was when the charge was pending, since it was likely to "fall off".
My husband's bank is a small, local bank that I'm not sure exists anywhere but in this county. They don't even have a number to contact them outside of banking hours and the 1-800 number on the debit card just puts you in touch with the local branch.
How should he handle this? What words or phrases does he need to use to get this taken care of?
Thanks.
