I bought a 49" TCL SmarTV (model TCL 48FS3750 if it matters) a little over two years ago, i.e. outside of the one-year warranty (thank you, planned obsolecense!). I think the backlight is burned out, because if I shine a light directly at the TV, I can still see the regular homescreen, i.e. everything except that backlight appears to work normally.

I thought it'd be low-risk/cost and high reward to try to repair it, but, I've never really messed with electronics before.

However, I've been able to use web resources to fix other things before, like simple car repairs (wipers, headlights) and computer stuff, so I think I'd be able to get through it.

Anyone tried this themselves, to advise if it's worth a try or not? Thanks for any insight/advice in advance.
