Back in March wife was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, been off for rehab and recovery for the last 3 months. We're coming up on the rollover to long-term disability because as of right now she took a trial run this weekend and doesn't appear she's going to be able to do the physical aspects of her job until she recovers further. Good news is that she continues to recover, and it appears this is still in the cards for right now.
We are signed up with her company for all of our benefits, and we paid in to have long term disability support at 66% of her normal income. It appears though, being one if the largest employers in the state, the company might have a policy for immediate termination on transferring to long term disability. She's working with her management and HR to try to determine what the policy is on this but is not getting a solid answer.
We're obviously set up to take the pay hit, but wanted to see if the Reddit hivemind have any other words of wisdom, ideas, gotchas, or anything else we should be looking out for...
