This is the best of the worst, advice given by common people claiming to be experts to sell books and advice guides to other common people. Brace yourself, for the following is lots of cringe:
Popular Shit Advice #1: Go around your house, make a list of company products you own, then buy stock in those companies. Great way to get your kids introduced to investing!
Popular Shit Advice #2: If you invested $1,000 in X company 10 years ago, here’s how much you’d have today. Jesus Christ clickbait articles, how the hell is that supposed to help anyone.
Popular Shit Advice #3: Buy dividend stocks and live off of those dividends. So pay thousands of dollars for a stock with a dividend of a couple of dollars at best.
Popular Shit Advice #4: Buffett says don’t buy, so don’t buy. Even though he said he’d never buy airlines and he now owns that, and he never said he’d buy tech, and he now owns that.
Popular Shit Advice #5: Have a Google News Alert to whatever company you want to invest in, and read up on all the news pieces about them. Forget about understanding accounting and reading through financial reports, just get informed by some journalist who has a view count quota to hit on their articles.
Popular Shit Advice #6: Jim Cramer told me to invest. He did all the homework for me so I’m just going to follow what he says blindly.
Popular Shit Advice #7: The stock’s too expensive now, I should’ve bought it a year or two ago!
Popular Shit Advice #8: Amazon just lost $20 billion in value overnight, because I don’t understand how market caps work!
Popular Shit Advice #9: It’s impossible to make my own informed decisions since I’m not a daytrader.
Popular Shit Advice #10: You can’t time the market. It’s not as if Apple’s stock is significantly altered after a WWDC event or earnings report...
