Hi everyone,

I’m currently 27, single, and living in Seattle. My parents live in my hometown of Houston, TX, and I haven’t lived with them since I was 20.

I have about $30k debt from student loans left + car loan payments. Even after recently moving into an old house with five roommates here to lower rent, I end up with $800/month after everything: Rent, utilities, car lease, car insurance, food (lots of cooking- no drinking), etc.

I love the people I work with but the career isn’t for me, so that’s not holding me here either.

I LOVE Seattle and it’s amazing people- it’s my favorite city ever. But increasing rent + high cost of living is constantly on my mind.

I have the option of moving back to my parents place in Houston, TX, where things are cheaper, getting a $55k/year job there, and paying off these loans + car payments. 1-1.5 years will do wonders with my finances. My relationship with parents are good but no doubt living with them at 27 will be difficult.

Anyone else been in this predicament before?
