Hello, first want to start by saying I have very little investment experience, and am trying to learn by reading books, but have a question. I had a Roth IRA account with my old company, and after leaving them, I transferred into my Wells Fargo account for a Wells Fargo Advisers account, and purchased stocks advised by my financial adviser through Wells Fargo.

I have now been reading books like the Millionaire Next Door, and Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and soon A Little Common Sense about Investing, and have learned that a Vanguard 500 stock may be what I am truly looking for until I learn how the market works and want to manage myself.

I am looking for advise on if I should just sell my current trades at Wells Fargo and purchase the Vanguard 500 through Wells Fargo? Or if there is a way for me to sell all my shares, and transfer them into a new Vanguard account penalty free?

Note that I do not currently have a Vanguard account, or honestly understand if I can just "sell" my Wells Fargo account shares and go purchase into the Vanguard. Are there some sort of penalties? Or am I paying some sort of Premium to get the Vanguard funds through Wells Fargo instead of directly from Vanguard?

Sorry if this should be common knowledge, just wanted to ask some smarter people!
