I run a VERY small VERY seasonal business with no real written policies. Very close knit working environment with 5 full time key employees. (I know I will get a policy in writing. I just started managing the business) I need to implement a policy about taking time off during our busy summer season. We make all of our profit in the summer and lose money the rest of the year. I want to be a good manager and not screw my employees over, but at the same time I cannot have key people taking time off during our busy season. Is it reasonable to enact a vacation blackout policy from May-September and deny all requests during that time span?
