I use the large Alice to bring groceries home, due to the fact that I ride the city bus to the grocery store. I like the fact that it has the wide mouth and bottom, to be able to hold a lot of items. And I'm particularly fond of the metal lever and tooth style of adjusting the shoulder straps versus the conventional plastic adjuster that you find on other packs. But I'm not thrilled with the lack of back padding and shoulder strap padding.

I'm wondering if any of you folks know of anything, be it milsurp or civilian type bag, that has the wide mouth and carrying capacity of at least the large Alice, but that provides back and shoulder strap padding. My budget, at the extreme, would probably be about 150-200 usd. The cheaper, the better, due to being on disability (read: fixed income). But I also understand that you get what you pay for. I've looked at a few of the newer style milsurp packs at my local army surplus, but they all seem to have a lot of extra pockets that honestly would never get used.

That's what I enjoy about the simplicity of the Alice. The big main compartment and the three small outside integrated pockets. I don't have any real use for a bunch of molle webbing. I apologize ahead of time for formatting. And appreciate any and all suggestions.
