I just thought a little self-congratulatory post was in order. Just paid off last debt. Don’t owe a thing to anyone. I just turned 30, and I’ve pretty consistently had decent pay raises, but my problem is the lifestyle creep. Spending too much, not tracking it, always feeling poor, even though I’ve been following financial advice sites for ages. I traded my car for a more reasonable payment (and total amount), aggressively attacked credit card balance, paid off motorcycle (and it’s going up for sale now. I realistically don’t have time to ride anymore and it’s a money pit). Saved up one month safety net. This morning paid off car loan too. Next step is to double safety net and start saving for house, wedding, ring, all that good stuff. (Already have been saving appropriately for retirement so didn’t mention). Sorry if humblebrag, but I wanted to thank this subreddit for keeping me motivated to stay on track.
