Hello everyone, I'm pretty much at my wits end after trying to find a solutiom to this.
I'm 22, and recently moved back in with my parents back in early March in order to save money to go back to school. It was then that I found out my Mother had actually quit her job back in January of this year, this was a sudden move so i hadnt thought to enroll last year. Anyway Im currently without insurance and looking around it seems like I have no option but to wait until my employers open enrollment in November.
Now, heres the issue.
Back in September of last year i had an workplace injury, which was diagnosed as a sprain to the chest wall; no issues at all they gave me some pain meds work took care of the bill all was well. But over the course of these last two months my sternum has begun to pop/crack frequently starting intially at 1-2 a day with minor discomfort. To now where Its popping 2-3 times every other hour with a sharp pain accompanying it. Whats really doing it now is that im getting heart attack like symptoms (pain in the left arm and neck, with radiating pain on the left side of my chest) sometimes with lowerback pain and slight shortness of breath. I have no idea if this is related to the injury or if this is just something thats happening to accompany it.
Looking at short term plans they say they dont cover pre existing problems like this and in all honesty with my current finacial situation going out of pocket to an emergency room is basically sentencing myself to...well a lot. Ive been trying so hard to dig myself out of the hole that I was already in and Im just at my wits end...I dont want to confine myself to even more debt
Am I basically screwed? Or is there some type of option that Im just not seeing? Im reposting this on here from r/healthinsurance due to the urgent nature of the situation.
TL;DR - 22, Virginia, Uninsured, had a workplace injury in Sept. 2017 with Chest sprain, fast foward to march-now have begun to experience progressivley worse chest related issues however unsure if related to the injury. Definatley cannot afford a sudden ER trip.
Edit - Forgot to include this in my original post but for a pre screening for medicare I didnt qualify based on my current income (1800/mo pre-tax)
