I’m 44, employeed, I contribute to a company retirement plan to a Roth IRA & 401K. No big debts. Some extra money. Using M1 investing but just getting started with small stuff. I plan on getting a financial rep, but I’ve been here snooping for awhile to learn! Lots of questions- sorry for my lack of understanding and being a newbie!!
- For money I CAN’T lose— I’d like to withdraw it in 5 years with a 5-10% growth. What’s my best bet? Is an ETF like VTI good enough? What about just a diversified bank stock portfolio? Don’t want to lose it, but I want more than 3%.
- As for money that I CAN lose. AND I have no desire to day trade. Should I look into just buying low-priced stock in good companies and sitting on it? Or invest in diversified ETFs across areas I believe in & have had great growth? Like ROBO, TQQQ or SOXL? Or both.
- Should I be interested in dividends? I’d reinvest it since I don’t need the cash so why need them at all?
- Bond? Ugh. Instead of 55/45 stock bond split for my age, should it be 75/25 in today’s world? Since I’m already contributing to a retirement Roth IRA and 401K, should I even be looking at bonds on my own?
Please school me!!!
