Hey guys,
I recently buckled down and decided enough is enough, I need to start saving my money instead of throwing it away. I started working at target a few months ago and since I love target and I was getting an extra discount I started spending way too much unnecessary money. I was encouraged to get a red card to save an additional 5% (and i can't use my discount without it, cash, or a giftcard) so I did. I got the credit card and within a few weeks added $300 to the card balance. Having that extra bill plus other credit cards is what made me realize how much of an idiot I've been so throwing away money on pointless things instead of saving it.
So I started by paying off that card and getting the debit option instead because that way I can still grocery shop without spending money I don't have, while still getting that extra 5%.
Shortly after I started I was told about cartwheel which used to be it's own coupons app bit has since merged with the target app and is now just found under target. And it's AMAZING. It's free and full of coupons, or "offers", on things all over the store. Ranging from 5% to 50% off. So I only shop after I've gone through and found all the coupons I can use, but also being careful to check that other items aren't cheaper without the offers.
In addition to that I also found Coupons the app. You can combine those coupons with the cartwheel offers and get extra savings, plus you can potentially get rebates off of things you buy by uploading a picture of your receipt into an app called ibotta.
Not to mention there are don't of companies that will send you free Coupons just for asking, for example: glad, cottonelle, bounce, bounty, etc. This person has made a huge list of companies that will do it: http://grocery-coupons-guid.com/couponing-resources/free-manufacturer-coupons/
In addition to all of this, target will often times give you $5 or $10 gift cards for buying multiples of an item. If you do separate transactions you can get a gift card and use it on the rest of your stuff.
So with all this information I was able to save just over 50% of my purchase of essential items. It took some time and effort but it was so worth it and I encourage you guys to try it out .
Anyway, im just so excited about the amount i saved and I look forward to being a more active part of this sub AND saving some extra money!
