Going through this situation now. We broke up, my SO made about $60/yr and I make about 75. Our rent is 850 (midwest) for a 3bd2ba place with a 3 car garage (my fav part.)
I could be in an apartment for $500 a month but now I'm stuck with the extra $350 plus extra utilities for another 5 months because I signed the least and the SO did not. I'm okay to afford this, but I'm just asking others to apply caution if they cannot afford a place alone when they move in with a lover.
