My understanding of buying an investment property is generally people use rental income to pay it off. But my concern is what if either a) it goes without a tenant for a while or b) if other major concerns come up like needing a new roof or major necessary home improvements. Wouldn't that make real estate a high-risk investment? How is it profitable?
