Hi, I've purchased a property that had a separate toilet and bathroom next to each other. We've taken down the wall between the two (not a supporting wall) and I now have two doorways. I have a decision as to which to keep (or maybe go for one in between). Essentially I have two doorways with 10cm (4") in between the two, the 10cm gap was a 65mm Aerated (Breeze) block wall.I can't seem to find 65mm blocks anywhere, the narrowest now seem to be 100mm which I can't use as the wall spans the rest of the bathroom so I'd have to step it which would be weird and lose space. So we have two options, brick it using the blocks from the other wall, not in amazing condition and have plaster on which we'd need to try get off, also can we do this within the wood frame from the door using brick ties into that, then that can support the wall above, without us having to prop it whilst doing the new wall. The other option is build a narrow stud partition within the 65mm gap, using something like 38x63mm (1.5" x 2.5") side on so the 38mm is the width with plaster board on either side. Probably with some insulation in the frame for sound proofing. We had started using the blocks but I'm not sure about it, especially with them in the wood frame, I've nervous about the whole thing being knocked and just falling out the doorframe (+ 100mm gap) in one big block. I'm reasonable ability and doing things but have assistance from someone much more experienced so I have no issues about doing the work, it's just the method. Thanks, appreciate any advice via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2rP7XvN
