Graduated college two weeks ago and I’m starting my job in about a week and a half. I am 22 and have no debt after college. I also have never had a credit card and have no credit score.

Budgeting: I will have a base salary of $36,000, and paid commission on top of that. My boss projected me to make around $102,000 annually. I will be considered an independent contractor and receive no benefits. I can stay on my parents health insurance for 3 more years so I won’t have to worry about that right away. Any ideas on how I should budget money towards taxes (since they won’t be taken out right away), social security, and retirement fund?

Credit: The other day I applied for a credit card but was immediately declined for some reason (probably because of my no credit). Will I need one of my parents to co sign in order to get a credit card? I will also be living 1200 miles away from my family so I am thinking of getting a travel credit card but I’m not sure which one would be the best.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
