Trying this again...https://ift.tt/2H5cIbP think I have an "everything that can go wrong" situation going on here. My house was built in 1968. This area in the picture is what I am trying to tile. There is a portion (inside a closet) that is painted concrete. I sanded it a little bit, but it doesn't seem to be budging. Since the area is in a closet, I'm ok with not tiling that area.My biggest concern is outside the closet. Those vinyl tiles are 9x9. Combined with the age of the house, I'm pretty sure that means they're asbestos. The junk you see on top of them is glue from a carpet that was gone when we bought the house in 2007. It is bone dry and hard as a rock.I guess the good news is that the vinyl tile has no shine whatsoever. That level is teetering on a hump off to the left of the picture that's about 1/8-1/4" proud of the rest of the floor. What are my options here? Can I lay down primer and pour some SLC over the whole thing? Modified thinset and trowel it flat? Shim plywood with PL premium, then Ditra? My last resort might be SLC to account for the hump, and give up on tile altogether - just put down some peel-and-stick vinyl. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2InMReP
