Hello everyone - I moved to a colder/snowier/wetter climate from California three years ago for college, and during that move I picked up a good pair of boots that I thought would last me until I was finished with school. I bought these Timbs and honestly, I probably should have found a replacement before going through this winter that has just passed (the third winter that these boots have attempted to see me through). The inside of the heels are torn up completely and have been since the end of last winter.

I tend to always have a problem with wearing out the inner heel material of my shoes, even though I properly unlace my shoes before taking them off and I try my best not to tear them up. I would say I'm moderately active when I wear these boots (for 6 months out of the year) - I walk maybe 2 miles a day through my campus, half the time through either rain or snow, otherwise just on concrete. During the summer months I sometimes have to put them on to do work in the forest/mud.

I don't see a lot of wear on the soles, honestly, and for the past winter I've sewed thick pieces of flannel into the area that is ripped up because the plastic inside is showing and it destroys my feet. I think the waterproofing has deteriorated as well, because we had a rainstorm last week and my feet were soaked the entire day. I'm at the breaking point of my frugality and I am finished with these demons at this point. I need a new pair of shoes with upper material that will last me more than two years.

Any suggestions? I'm not too crazy picky, but I prefer a minimal sort of look in plain black. Synthetic or leather are both good, as long as it is waterproof.
