So this question comes from what I've read about recent stock market turmoil. When wall Street hears something it doesn't like, everybody panics and sells, causing a massive drop in the Dow/S&P. Then they hear something they like, and they all go crazy buying, causing a spike in the indexes. However, everything I've read says that smart investors stay the course, and don't panic and sell at every hint of bad news. So why, then, does Wall Street behave the way it does?
