Last year I impulse bought a pair of boots (yeah, I know!). They were wonderful - right colour, right style. One teensy-tiny problem - they rubbed. I tried a few solutions but basically for the last year I've had a pair of decorative boots. I thought about donating them, but today I decided that given the money spent on them is a sunk-cost, I had nothing to lose by trying to trim them down into a pair of shoes, pretty much cutting away the part that was rubbing. After some very careful cutting I now have a wonderful pair of shoes that so far don't rub (and it's easier to sort out the problem now I can get to it) and I'm looking forward to wearing them out and about!
