My +/- 3 year old Kobalt coping saw broke, while installing the first replacement blade (not a heavily used tool). "No problem," I figured, it's probably like the old Sears/Craftsman warranty.

Lowe's told me that they no longer deal directly with warranty issues and that I'd have to call Kobalt. Kobalt CS said Lowe's is supposed to take care of it. They transferred my call to Lowe's, who said that Kobalt is supposed to take care of it. Yeesh.

I've never been pleased with Kobalt quality, but had felt the lifetime warranty was an acceptable backstop. Lacking that, my impression is that Kobalt's not a BIFL option.

If others have had good experiences with Lowe's / Kobalt, please share, because this is based solely on my experience.
