Here is the album I created detailing my first build of anything worth noting. Before this I made a small end table which was .. Meh and used my tools for construction and remodeling or whatever. I bought a planer (Dewalt 399.00 one) and a biscuit jointer. Both worked well but I think I dulled the planer blades after one build. I was thinking about spending a couple of hundred bucks on carbide blades. Any thoughts on that? Along the way I Learned how to sharpen 20 dollar planes I bought at thrift stores to razor sharp because I did not have a jointer. This was actually a neat learning experience. It took a while but it was mostly me being too cheap to fork over the sixty bucks for a decent diamond stone. Once I had this, a piece of leather and a sharpening jig I paid ten bucks for... Magic happened. Totally worth it and my advice is don't cheap out on sharpening stuff. I really took my time with this build and it took a little over a month of nights here and there. (I work full time and teach at the local university part time. Time is sparse) I'm proud of it. It doesn't even compare with some of the things posted here but I'm really curious on what the more experienced builders have to say. I'm open to criticism. Just be cool and I'll listen and try to soak up more knowledge. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2EyS5ln
