Last month, my SO and I had planned a vacation to an exotic island. We were so excited. I bought a flight and booked our hotel and was ready to go! Two days before we were to leave, he went to the ER with severe pains. Turns out he had pancreatitis.
I was devastated that we had to cancel our trip, but my sweetie is better now and that’s all that matters. I had enough time to cancel the hotel and get a full refund, but we all know flights are pretty much non refundable.
I figured it is what it is. It was only $260 and again, my sweetie was okay and that’s what mattered. But I was scrolling through PF and someone mentioned another benefit of credit cards. I had a thought. Maybe I could get my credit card company to refund me for the flight!
I looked online and got the form. My SO had to get a note from his doctor saying we were unable to travel. I printed out the form and filled it out. I printed out my itinerary and called the airline to cancel my ticket. I printed out the proof that it was cancelled and sent it all in. I was concerned because the airline was offering me a voucher for the cost of the ticket up to a year. I just had to pay a $200 change fee and the difference in the ticket amount. I was worried because of that, they wouldn’t give me a refund. But I figured all the cc company could do was say no.
