So long story short I'm living in a part of town that is quickly gentrifying. It used to be a rough side of town, my aunt never moved out, paid off the house and now I own it. Look I've never been good with money, but I want to maximize my benefit on this rising tide. What do I do here? Do I just sit on this house and ride this wave? I had never really planned on doing anything with this place, but its a house that sits on two lots close to downtown San Antonio. I saw lots of people do well in Austin because it quickly grew, and I think the same thing is happening in SA, but like I said I never understood markets and economics and real estate and all that, so what would you do if you were in this situation? I don't have any particular qualms about selling this place when the timing is right, but I'm asking the guys who know about this sort of thing what guys typically do here. The place used to be the home of a botanist so it was planned with lots of flora in mind, but the place fell in to severe disrepair. It wouldn't be worth much if I sold it as is, but I'm wondering if it might be worth investing while the neighborhood cleans up. I'm thinking about going crazy with flora maybe even adding a greenhouse on the adjacent land. Am I adding any value to my house this way? Thoughts?
