I have been able to change some habits of consumption for a few months now. At first it feels like an itch, but I get used to it and find it completely normal now.
- Manicure \ pedicure: I bite my nails a lot and naturally my hands look ugly. I love getting my nails professionally done. But I realize that the process is wasteful and harmful (a ton of plastic nails, chemicals, cotton wipes, glitters, plastic decorations, etc), so I decided to not ever do it again. My nails are now ugly but I'm at peace with it.
- Buying clothes almost every week: I have stopped buying new clothes (I almost only buy second-hand clothes) since last December and donated old clothes. The closet is manageable now. I'm currently gaining so much weights and most of my old clothes don't fit, but I'm trying to cope with the biggest, stretchable pieces of clothing I have and lose weights.
- Buying new makeup products constantly: seriously, why do I need 23 lipsticks and 4 palettes of eyeshadows, which I can never run out before their expiration date ?? I don't need to buy the latest hottest products just because the packaging is cute. I'm looking for recipes to DIY simple makeup such as eyebrows liner.
- Dying my hair: My hair is naturally black and I love turning it into bright blonde. But the chemicals do so much harm to my hair, it gets into a vicious cycle of what I realize is just "chemical treatment -> more chemical treatment to fix the harm by the old chemical treatment"
What are the things that you used to do but not anymore? And what impact does getting rid of that thing help?
