Howdy!

I am hoping someone can help me out with how to wrap my head around personal finances. I am 24 years old, I have a pretty decent job where I pull in about $700-750 a week and I am also in a position where I can move up a ladder, so (fingers crossed) more money! I feel like this should be more than enough for me to start putting back money, but every month I feel like I am ending up short, or sometimes even struggle with my bills. I honestly feel like I got behind somewhere and have been playing catch-up.This worries me because I want to propose to my partner soon and I don’t want to start our life of with bad finances. My parents were not good in this area and I think I got some of their bad habits. What are some tips and tricks I can use to start putting back money? And, is There any way I can automate it?? The less I touch it the better. As soon as I get a good base and I am stable, I want to start investing as well.

Monthly bills: 400 - rent 350 - car 160 - Misc. house bills. 60 - Career training courses 60 - Credit Card (I want this gone ASAP!) :( 24 -gym 10 - Spotify

Note: I have a 2016 civic, I am not upside on my payments yet and probably won’t be for another year or so. Could I still trade it in for a cheaper ride/note? I am not sure what the best option is?
