Hi folks,I've had an idea for a while now about making some simple "large cages for small animals," suitable for reptiles, rodents and other exotics. As I want to send these to a few friends, my ideal result would pack flat and be easily put together with a few simple tools. I can cut/shape/otherwise prepare the material for assembly myself (the DIY part), but so far the biggest difficulty has been finding a material that is light, relatively inexpensive and rigid. The most important structural component is the base, as the walls do not have to bear anything other than the weight of the wire-mesh lid.My prototype is built from plywood that I covered with polywall (thin melamine sheet), and while certainly lighter than even a much smaller glass enclosure, is still quite heavy, and of course, covering the wood with polywall is a labor intensive and irritating process.Has anybody here got experience with ordering structural plastics from wholesalers? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2plddpY
