I just replaced my bathroom exhaust fan and discovered that the previous was just vented into the attic. To correct this I am going to run it outside through the gable. I have already cut the whole in the wall and put the endcap and I am trying to figure out the best way to do the ducting itself.I have read a ton of conflicting things, so I'm just going to give a rundown of what I know and see what your thoughts are.1) Biggest concern is condensation. To that end, everyone says to use insulated duct. That said, I am getting ready to do blow in insulation which will likely cover the entire duct. Do I need insulated duct as well?2) Flex vs solid. I know that solid is superior, but damn is flex easier. Does it matter much? Length of run will be about 15 ft with 1 90 degree turn. Bathroom is about 40 sq feet, 256 cubic ft, 50cfm fan.3) Some places say I should try to get slant from the fan to the vent, but I don't really see how I can achieve that given that I am venting at the same level as the fan is placed (just above the ceiling). Supposedly this is to prevent condensation from building up in the duct. Is this really necessary? If so, how do I get the elevation? Finally, I live in Austin, TX so I don't get too much really cold weather. Maybe a couple months of 30-50. Am I reading too much into condensation problems that are more of a cold weather problem? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2DAz4yJ
