I'm reading a book called " Real Food, Fake Food," that talks about the deception in our food supply. In one section, the author discusses the Kobe and wagyu beef debacle. He mentions restaurants he would recommend for getting qualify meat. I looked at the menus. The steaks are listed for $25/ounce. A side of fries is $14. Someone posted a bill for dinner for two at $245.

Are there that many rich people? We do okay, but I couldn't dream of even spending $50 for dinner. I can buy food for the week and have money left over and I only buy quality items, nothing packaged with labels or processed, but quality produce and the like.

Any ideas here? I guess we could afford it, but it seems so incredibly wasteful. Maybe it's how I was raised (by my grandparents who lived through the depression). Even if I won lotto I couldn't imagine $245 for dinner for two.
