I am working on leveling a concrete hearth that ultimately will have a slab of marble adhered to it. Problem is, the concrete hearth is level with the floor on the left side but is 1 1/2 inches high on the right side. I was thinking of buying a diamond cut concrete blade for my 4.5 grinder and cutting lines into the concrete on the high side and possibly chiseling out afterwards. sort of like notching a wood post to remove material. Also what should i use as a leveling material after the higher concrete is removed. And would thinset be the only material needed for the slab to adhere? Now for the vertical brick on the fireplace facing. I will be placing marble slabs onto painted brick and need to know if there is a way to remove paint from brick or if i should use tapcons to install a screen for thinset to hold the slabs? Thanks. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2G2Zle4
