I searched renting vs home buying and most of the articles were extremely biased against home buying. They were either down playing home buying as not an investment because prices increase with inflation, or as can be seen here advocating renting. Here's another article specifying home buying doesn't build wealth:

I was told renting is useless by my parents because you can live somewhere for years and get zero ownership of it whereas home buying you live there for years and more of it is paid off. Where as renting, you'll be in the negative. Money goes towards living but you own nothing. What can you tell me about the true differences?
