I was asked at the last minute to provide personal references for a vehicle lease. They already gave me the car. What happens if I don't provide the references?

I of course could, but it seems really stupid that they ask for personal references when I have good credit and they already have everything they should need to track me down if I don't make payments. I don't like giving away others' personal information (names, addresses, numbers).
