I'm always short of money due to my bad health. (Can't hold onto decent job)
Anyway, my friends all are kinda spendy type, no not the shopperholic or luxury, it's just they are generous with money and love to enjoy life.
I can't choose only certain type of people as friends. Relationship is something you can't control. It happens that your friends love hotel dinner over 2$ burger.
Last year I declined one of my friend's wedding invitation because I didn't have money to buy gift. All the other friends were planning to buy at least 200$ worth gifts, and simply I couldn't afford that.
I start to give up on social life. Nowadays you need money to maintain relationships. I don't think I can choose only frugal people as friends. Relationship is complicated thing.
How do you deal with friendship or love life? If they are not that frugal type, you should spend some money too because relationship should be mutual.
'Real friend or lover will understand you' doesn't work. Everyone would hate the situation that only you are the one spending money or you can't enjoy something because your friend doesn't have money.
