Hey all, I’m replacing my 2 bathroom sink faucets. I successfully replaced my kitchen faucet a few weeks ago, so I was going into this pretty confidently with some experience under my belt. Unfortunately, step one is shutting off the water and I’m not succeeding. The shutoff for the bathroom sink is different than the kitchen sink. Picture here: http://ift.tt/2FwAYD1 took some pliers to the cold valve, and started rotating to the right. I hit some resistance sooner than expected, and twisted a bit harder just to ensure the line would be closed, but with that twist it became suddenly easy to turn again. Very strange. I (stupidly) just kept rotating waiting for it to tighten up, but it kept only resisting every half turn or so. It never tightened. I went for the hot water and just turned it 1/4 of the way around. It shut off just fine.Great. So apparently these were 1/4 turn valves and I didn’t know it.The hot water is off but I think I’ve royally screwed up the cold water valve.BUT I go to my OTHER bathroom (exact same setup), and I turn those valves only 1/4 of a turn, but again only the hot water turned off. The cold water valve on that side also didn’t work at all.So… can anyone help me troubleshoot this? Did I completely destroy the first cold water valve by turning it too much, or is there a way to fix it? Is both the cold water valves not working just a coincidence? I’ve tried searching for this issue online but am coming up short. Thanks for your help, r/DIY!Additional details: There is no complete water shutoff to my condo unit; if I want all my water shut off I have to hire a plumber and have them shut off the water to the entire building, 20 units in all, which is not ideal. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2EUcnH0
