Here’s the situation. My dog has a pretty terrible case of separation anxiety and cannot be left alone. Ever. He will hurt himself trying to escape if we leave him. Luckily, I work for myself (house flipper) and I am able to keep him with all the time. Here’s the problem. He has to chill in the truck while I go into meetings and the store and whatnot. For some reason, he has no problem hanging out in the truck. It’s his happy place. But I live in Louisiana. It’s hot as balls here. I have to leave the truck on with the ac running for him. This is not preferable however. For obvious reasons (security and engine wear for starters) I don’t want to leave my truck running with the keys in the ignition for up to three hours at a time. Here’s where y’all come in. I have a possible solution, but I need help figuring out a final design. I’m going to build a swamp cooler (small fan blows air over a block of ice) to cool the truck cab. These are pretty effective at cooling, but I’m worried about something going wrong. I need some kind of a temperature sensor that would alert me if the truck gets hotter than 80 degrees or something. Maybe a remote start feature. Who has done something like this? Tech people help me out. What product/s are out there that may help me that I don’t know about? Nothing matters to me except keeping my dog safe and happy. Thanks in advance everyone! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2ohtOdR
