I recently bought the Wal-Mart version of Spam and googled "Great Value Luncheon Meat vs Spam", read the reviews and was surprised. According to what I read (and later confirmed), their version is in fact Spam. I know a lot of people turn their nose down to spam but it's cheap meat so what the hell. According to the USDA code on the can and the reviews, the Wal-Mart version is made by Hormel (Who makes Spam) and has the same ingredients as the original spam recipe. The only difference in the recipe is that several years ago Hormel started adding potato starch to the Spam recipe to reduce the amount of "meat jelly" that is in the can. So I ask you, pay twice as much to get 1oz less meat jelly (aspic) or half as much to get the original recipe.
