I bought my first house about a year ago, so I'm still pretty new to DIY. The house was built in 1905, and is almost entirely lath and plaster. Two of the bedrooms had these ugly 12"x12" ceiling tiles, and in one room they had been water damaged by a roof leak that has since been repaired.Today we started to take the tiles down in the water damaged room. What we found above was that the tiles were attached to furring strips over the original plaster ceiling, which is covered in wallpaper and has some pretty significant mold. We haven't taken down the entire barrier yet so we can't see the full extent of the mold, but it looks pretty extensive from the bits we can see.So I guess what we are looking at now is tearing down the moldy plaster, and cleaning what are probably moldy joists before we can re-drywall? At what point should we call in a pro to look at the mold issue?Pics: http://ift.tt/2EU2Xw9 via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2EgF3tM
