Hey, i thought maybe I could get some additional ideas here- I've recently begun the process of settling into a career in public librarianship, since I've been told that there is a career path here for me and I rather like it. My research has indicated that I can expect to make 60-70 k a year as a librarian in my city once I'm done with my master's degree in librarianship (Thank goodness I spent so little on my bachelors, i'm totally debt free), and failing that I'll be able to be a school librarian which there are a shortage of. That should be pretty good, because this job also has good healthcare benefits and a defined benefit pension, so i won't have to worry as much about retirement.
My one misgiving is that it's not a great level of base income for this area, and I'm looking for ideas on how I could invest to supplement my income on a regular basis, so I can add to that base salary. I'm pretty risk averse but if there's anything I do have, it's time to set things up, and a saving of $20,000ish dollars. I already got some advice and plan to talk to an RIA about an exact plan at some point, but if anyone knows of anything that would be good for me to look into, that would help.
