Bought my first house a few months ago and have done a few small projects. I decided I was capable of fixing the settlement cracks that I'm noticing everywhere, so I got the fiber tape and some compound and covered them all up.Then I sanded a bit and painted. The result was terrible. I could see the edges of where I compounded everywhere. I did not sand nearly enough to make the transition smooth.Had to spend 4 hours sanding to fix my mistake.
