An employee, who is intellectually disabled because of the doctor's forceps at birth, gets paid a regular wage. He still lives with his mom who takes every penny, doesn't feed him, and treats him badly insulting him. He spends most of his off time at one of his fellow employee's house, except when he goes to bed at his mom's. He can't drive, he uses a bicycle. The guy whose house he hangs out at can't handle his own finances much less this guys. When he does get a little money, he blows it right away on garbage and people who take advantage of him. We would like to set up a situation where: 1. His mother doesn't get her hands on any of his money. 2. His room and board are paid automatically out of his bi-weekly pay. 3. A very small allowance is given to him weekly for pocket money. 4. The rest goes to retirement / savings / investment that he cannot access easily to throw away on garbage. We don't want to call adult services, because it would hurt him to see her hurt despite the way that she treats him. We don't want to go through an attorney because those services would take all the money he earns. He would agree with giving us power of attorney, but we don't have the time to deal with his stuff frequently. We just want this guy to live a decent life without everyone stealing his hard earned money. Any ideas or information would be great.
